Last Saturday morning, Liberal Democrat Cllr. Cindy Ferguson and Lib Dem Prospective Parliamentary Candidate Rosalyn Harper, continued their campaign to stop the closure of local post offices by gathering signatures for their petition, which 10,000's of people across the country have already signed to save Post Offices, from local residents outside the Frimley Road Post Office which is proposed for closure.

Liberal Democrat Cllr. Cindy Ferguson said, "I am concerned that the proposed closure of Frimley Road Post Office will have a major impact on local residents, especially the disabled, infirm and elderly, who rely on the services offered by the post office the most.
Rosalyn Harper said, "The nearest Post Offices are bus rides away which is an additional expense and most residents were concerned with the already long queues at the Princess Way branch. In addition, it appears no consideration has been given to the community aspect of a trip to the Post Office that is especially important to the elderly"
Cllr. Cindy Ferguson further said, "Having tried in vain to prevent the closure of the Post Office in my ward of Mytchett and now the proposed closure in Frimley Road, when will the closures stop? The Liberal Democrats are opposed to such closures and will continue to campaign against them with the residents of Watchetts".
