Rosalyn Harper believes the Army owe their Soldiers a Duty of Care
Following the new allegations of gang rape, systematic bullying and sexual harrassment at the Army's Deepcut Barracks revealed in a leaked police report yesterday, Rosalyn Harper said, Almost every week more allegations are made and more information revealed about what happened to young recruits in the charge of the Army. I refuse to accept that every single one of these claims is bogus. The Army and the Government owe a Duty of Care to these young recruits and they should take these allegations seriously and hold a proper investigation.
Failure to tackle this issue openly only increases the concerns families already have for their sons and daughters in the care of the Army. Repeated assurances from Geoff Hoon and Adam Ingram will do nothing to rebuild the trust that is being lost. The Government must be held to account and the only way for them to provide answers and tackle this problem with sincerity it deserves is to hold a full and independent inquiry.
