Ros Harper says an Independant Review doesn't go far enough
Rosalyn Harper, Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate, said following the decision for an Independant Review, "The independent review will not go far enough, it is likely that it will have a strict remit to review in isolation only new allegations in Deepcut and will not review whether there is a culture of systematic abuse and whether the army and/or government have breached their duty of care.
For the sake of those families who still seek answers, the integrity and reputation of the British Army and, for the young servicemen and women who deserve our protection there should be a full independent public enquiry into the events at Deepcut. The Government needs to take the issue of bullying seriously. It can no longer be swept under the carpet.
If these allegations were made about a British Army camp holding Iraqi prisoners of war there would be worldwide condemnation. But this was a British Army training camp holding British Army trainees."
