Liberal Democrat Leadership Contest Hustings

Members who would like to attend one of the few leadership hustings events in the South East should be aware that an event is being held at 9.30-11.30am on Saturday, 11th February, at The Centre Conference Venue, Farnham Road, Slough SL1 4UT. The leadership candidates have been asked to stay for an informal lunch to meet with members following this hustings.

Whilst there is plenty of parking at this venue, we do recommend that you fill your car with members, or sign up with www.liftshare.com. This meeting will start promptly and we request that you are in your seat by 9.15. For more information about this contact cbearder@cix.co.uk 07786 170949.

The hustings are followed by the South Central Region Spring Event, entitled 'Getting prepared for the next elections' with speakers; Tom Brake MP , Vince Cable MP, and Neil Fawcett, Deputy Director of Campaigns

There is a registration fee for the Spring Event, but no charge to members for the hustings meeting. Lunch is available for a charge of £6.50.

There will of course be opportunities to see the candidates in various media events. There will be a Radio 4 "Any Questions?" special at 9 p.m. on Wednesday night (25th Jan) with all the nominated leadership contenders. There will also be a Radio 5 Live debate and phone in with Simon Mayo at 1 p.m. on Thursday afternoon (26th Jan).

We anticipate many more media debates - but some programmes will not confirm arrangements before nominations close. You will generally see or hear the leadership contenders appearing on "Question Time" on Thursday nights, "Any Questions" on Friday nights and most of the political programmes on Sundays.
