Lib Dems highlight road safety issue in West End

Residents in Lucas Green Road and Priest Lane are becoming evermore concerned by the amount of heavy lorries using this once peaceful, narrow country lane, with a 30mph limit for only a small part of the way.

There is also an increased amount of fly-tipping near MOD land adjacent to Priest Lane. Recently there have been a number of applications for change of use of land from agricultural to

commercial or for Certificates of Lawfulness.

Liberal Democrat Parish Cllr Jill Catley told Focus: "Local residents have expressed concerns over the suitability of Lucas Green Road for use by heavy lorries. I believe that there is an

urgent need for Surrey County Council to undertake improvement works to improve pedestrian and road users safety".

Cllr Judy Douch agreed, "West End Liberal Democrats are pressing for Lucas Green Road to be classified as a 30 mph zone as a quick step towards improving safety".
