TORY COUNCILLOR LETS DOWN LIGHTWATER RESIDENTS

Lib Dem Councillor Patricia Pinder working for Lightwater

From December, Lightwater Tory, Elaine Drummond, is no longer a Surrey Heath Borough Councillor because she has failed to attend Council meetings for six months.

David Whitcroft, the Liberal Democrat group leader on the council commented,"Lightwater residents have been badly let down by Surrey Heath Conservatives. They selected a person to stand for the ward who clearly was not able to be effective in representing her area. The Tories have permitted Mrs Drummond to keep her seat and her council salary until now, so that they could avoid a by-election."

Councillor Whitcroft added that the Lib Dems will be fielding a full slate of candidates in Lightwater in May. "Our candidates will be fully committed to both the village and to the Council - as Lib Dem Councillor Patricia Pinder has demonstrated over the past four years - and we are confident that Lightwater will give the Tories a message about the poor quality of Conservative representation in the area."
