Popular Lib Dem Councillor for Bagshot, Bryan Ward, has died aged 72. He passed away peacefully in his sleep at Woking Hospice on 19th October. He had been battling against cancer.

A resident of Bagshot for 30 years, he had been a Liberal Democrat Borough and Parish Councillor since 2003 and was re-elected earlier this year before his illness was diagnosed.

As a Borough Councillor he served on the Planning and Licensing Committees and was Chair of Windlesham Parish Council 2006-07.

Bryan worked in the hotel and catering industry for 50 years, retiring in 1995 from Brooklands College, Weybridge as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Professional Studies. Since 1996 he worked as a training and development consultant.

He leaves behind his wife Jill, four daughters and five grandchildren.

His funeral will be held on 1st November. His family have requested family flowers only and asked that donations be sent to Woking Hospice.
