Local residents and Councillors of all political parties have been paying tribute to the late Bryan Ward, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Bagshot.

Duncan Clark, Parliamentary Spokesman of Surrey Heath Liberal Democrats and former Bagshot Councillor said: "He was one of the most level-headed people I have ever met. When anyone had a difficulty with anything he always responded in a kind manner and was polite. He was a true gentleman and he will be very sorely missed."

Meurig Williams, Borough and Parish Councillor for Bagshot said: "Bryan cared a great deal about the people he served. He had many friends and was always good humoured and pleasant. I personally will very much miss him as a friend and colleague."

Paul Hutchinson, Parish Councillor said: "He worked very hard for our village and he really loved people. He had so much still to give. It's immensely sad for us all to lose a man like Bryan".

Margaret Williams of the Bagshot Society said: "He was a friend of everyone. You knew that he was with you 100%. He was active and if he said he would do something then he would do it. He was a man of his word and he was always there to help you."

Ruth Hutchinson, of the Bagshot Society said: "He was a very sincere person - he gave his all to whatever he did. His loss leaves a big gap in village life."

Shirley Wheeler, former Parish Councillor, said: "He was a man of stature and he will be remembered with great affection."

Pamela Lindsay, former Parish Councillor, said "It was a real pleasure to serve with Bryan on the Parish Council. I was a new inexperienced member and he was always so kind, friendly and supportive".
