School children

Our children deserve better, our teachers deserve better, our country deserves better.

Liberal Democrats say

NO to cuts in education. We introduced the Pupil Premium whilst in Government, to support people from disadvantaged backgrounds throughout their education. We would remove the aged 11 SATS leaving the final year of primary education to be used to teach rather than being dominated by tests. Secondary schools retest anyway. Why put that increased strain on our children?

Figures suggest that our local schools, including Tomlinscote, Kings and Collingwood would all lose significant amounts of teachers because of proposed cuts.

Conservatives favour a return to a grammer school system. This would be devisive for children and society. Sadly, the government is now allowing schools their first spending cut in 20 years despite assuring us that education would be protected from this.
